EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW

FMNYC - Can you tell us about your journey into the modeling and pageantry industry? How did you get started?

GABI - I started out when I was younger on some photoshoot. Later on, I had my first runway modeling experience in Casa Cor Goiás. Modeling and pageantry industry can sometimes be complicated, that’s why, in the beginning, my parents were kind of afraid of that becoming a career. That’s why studying was a priority. Throughout time, I had the chance to face new opportunities that ended up as a career.

FMNYC - What do you enjoy most about being a model and beauty queen?

GABI - I love representing girls my age. I want people to see in me beyond my outer beauty. Inner beauty is really important and I’m here to inspire girls and show that everyone is beautiful in a way.

FMNYC - How do you prepare for a pageant or a modeling assignment? Can you walk us through your routine?

GABI - I always make an effort to get myself physically ready to face work by following a good diet and exercising. It is also important to take care of our mental well-being, specially in my case, because it’s not easy to be in a university along with having a modeling career.

FMNYC - What do you believe is the most important quality for a successful model and beauty queen to possess?

GABI - Always being humble, no matter if you’re starting a career or if you a super model or a beauty queen. It’s important to know how to deal with people who criticize your work or who really don’t want your success. Models need to support each other.

FMNYC - How do you handle the pressure and expectations that come with being in the spotlight?

GABI - We go through a lot of pressure and expectations, but I always make sure I do my best. Even if it’s not perfect, I do my best.

FMNYC - Can you share any memorable experiences or moments from your career so far?

GABI - I was invited to run for Miss Brazil one week before it happened. Even though I had such little time to get ready and it was my first time trying it, I faced the challenge and got 5th place. That’s when I realized that I could go further.

FMNYC - How do you stay updated with the latest fashion trends and industry developments?

GABI - Nowadays, social media makes that easier. My favorite are Instagram, Tiktok and Pinterest, where I follow some girls who share some very good advice and trends.

FMNYC - What do you think is the biggest misconception people have about models and beauty queens?

GABI - People believe that models and beauty queens live a fairytale. They don’t know hard and tiring a photoshoot ou a catwalk can be. There’s a lot of effort involved and long work hours.

FMNYC - How do you balance your personal life with your modeling and pageantry commitments?

GABI - I guess that’s what people ask me the most. Being a model and a beauty queen but also a medical school student can be quite difficult. However, if I have a notebook and a pen, I can make it simple. I make plans and organize myself previously so I can make good use of time. It all works out!

FMNYC - Can you tell us about any social causes or charitable work that you are involved in as a model and beauty queen?

GABI - I’ve helped in some charity projects during Christmas and Children’s day (celebrated in Brazil). It is very heartwarming to help people who don’t know what’s going on with their own body or how to prevent some diseases and treat them.

FMNYC - What advice would you give to aspiring models and beauty queens who are just starting their journey?

GABI - I’d tell them to believe in themselves even if no one does. In addition, I’d tell them that courage is extremely necessary.
