EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW

FMNYC - You’ve appeared on the covers of many famous magazines and you’re set to appear on the cover of FASHION MAGAZINE NYC. Which of your modeling work do you take pride in the most? Why?

RANIA PUGHOLM - Good question. Of course, ending up on the cover of a magazine is always a great feeling, as it’s a recognition of your work. It is even better if it’s a project that you have helped shape, creatively design. That is the case with the pictures in this issue of FMNYC, and thus extra proud that they are featured here.

FMNYC - What is your greatest weakness, as a model? What are you doing to improve on it?

RANIA PUGHOLM - Like everyone else, I sometimes lose my confidence, even after so many years in the business. Especially when you run into people who try to over shine you, or cause drama for nothing – and believe me there are a lot of that type in the modelling world. Sometimes it's just a lot to take on top of being busy and focussed on my career, so I need to learn to be stronger. I am generally strong and independent, but at times I also get affected with all bull…. so my advice is to not let anyone get to you….ever!

FMNYC - What is your favorite part of the fashion industry?

RANIA PUGHOLM -For me it’s the travelling and meeting lots of new people that is the best part. I also love getting the opportunity to wear amazing new collections from established and upcoming designers, and not least getting glammed up. I mean, who doesn’t? LOL

FMNYC - Many people think modeling is just about style and makeup. What’s your take on this? RANIA PUGHOLM - Modeling is not as easy as people think. It is not just showing up and having photos taken, it requires lots of effort and hard work if you want to become good at what you do. Having to always look your best, take care of your body, hair, skin, and be able to provide the client with the right attitude for the project, is pretty hard work. Outside of this it’s also all about building up the right connection – competition is fierce out there and you need to find your own unique sparkle.

FMNYC - What is your favorite season?

RANIA PUGHOLM - Summer, I cannot live without the sun! LOL. When the sun is out, I feel so much more awake, and full of energy, but I guess lots of people would agree with me. Secondly, I am not a fan of big sweaters and huge jackets – so with a love for dressing sexy and elegant, the summer season clothing is just more my style.

FMNYC - Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you became a model?

RANIA PUGHOLM - Sometimes you focus on a key milestone for a while, but it is when you least expect it, it happens. I was in the Philippines for a high fashion shoot, and the photographer after working with me suggested adding a few bikini shoots and submitting them to Playboy Philippines. A few months later I found myself touring the Philippines, autographing my cover in crowds of excited fans, culminating in walking the runway in a large “Victoria Secret” style event to celebrate the anniversary of Playboy Philippines.

FMNYC - Which of your projects are you most proud of? Why?

RANIA PUGHOLM - Every project I have worked on has been a step closer to my dream, an achievement and growth, so I am proud of how far I have come, and I will keep going. As a result, I am proud of most of my projects, and it’s frankly hard to single one out.

FMNYC - What are your 3 favorite places to travel in your country?

RANIA PUGHOLM - Luxor, Aswan, Cairo. I am a big fan of ancient Egypt, the Pharos, and love exploring this by visiting some of the key historic sites.

FMNYC - How do you keep in shape?

RANIA PUGHOLM - By eating healthy, but never by starving myself. I eat what I want but in moderation and of course hitting the gym. I also love group classes for motivation, such as yoga, dance, pole dance. When I feel the need for a bit more action, I do kickboxing – good for releasing tension.
