WE CAUGHT UP WITH LENSHINA NCHAMI TO TALK ABOUT HER SUCCESS IN THE FASHION WORLD AND CELEBRATE 3 YEARS OF HER BRAND.
The Lenshina Nchami brand was created in July 2017 under the umbrella of Jordan Park LLC.
My interest in design and fashion started as a young girl helping my mother out in her design studio. My mother was a designer and Master seamstress and by the age of seven I could already thread a machine and sew basic items. As I got older, my interest grew and I began to sketch pretty little dresses all the time, even while in class in Elementary and high school. Every time I was bought a new dress, I would always redesign it, add my own personal touch. After high school, my father wanted me to become a pharmacist but upon learning what being a pharmacist was all about, I decided to study Medical Technology instead and worked in a Laboratory in the areas of Microbiology and Hematology.
Fashion was always still at the back of my mind so I moved to New York and enrolled into the Fashion Institute of Technology where I did accelerated degrees in Design, Buying/Merchandising and production Management. I then went on to have a very successful career in the New York Fashion industry working for top Brands like Ralph Lauren, Nautica, Express and a few more. During this time I traveled to factories all over the world that were producing my company brand, putting new styles into work, check quality, approve styles for production and onboarded factories to my company’s SOPs. In 2017, I decided to stop and start my own Brand.
I decided to start with Luxury because I have a love and passion for Luxury. I draw my inspiration from my travels all over the world, from movies, mostly the classics, from art museums, from researching fashion through the years, from fabrics and also from the lights. My attraction to the lights is why I like to work with sparkly fabrics. The Lenshina Nchami brand is still growing and will be branching out to do more affordable labels in street wear, African inspired wear, Menswear etc in the near future.
My brand just made 3 years this year. This shoot “CELEBRATION” . Celebrating 3 years as a brand.
